Challenger is off to a running start!
Updated Friday July 25, 2014 by Jeff Dever. We had our first ever Challenger game in Kanata on July 15th. Everything went very well and everyone had a great time. We handed out the T-shirts and hats, got everyone into their teams, the kids picked names for their teams and had time to play two full innings. George's team is now called "The Tigers" and Joe's team are "The Red Ninjas". We had a last minute family show up last night to register, that makes 21! One more than our biggest hope! - Ken Smith
I am so proud! We did not know how many Challenger players were out that that would register for baseball this season. I would have been happy with 10 players, and had figured 20 would be the absolute upper limit on the number of players we could attract in this inagural year for Challenger. Contragulations to everyone involved for creating such a successful program in short timeframe. - Jeff Dever
Next year we could have as many as 4 challenger teams. We would play games against each other on different nights. We would even like to have a Tournament to play teams in East Nepean, Orleans and elsewhere. - Ken Smith
Ken expressed his appreciation that everyone he as been in contact with from the league has been excellent, specifically Lynnette Weatherall for registration, Kristin Kyle for uniforms, Dave Dalton for equipment, Robert Turcotte for news and myself for initiating the program and getting it organized. Administration isn't exactly fun, but all of our efforts have been well received and appreciated, its been a pleasure to be a part of this with all of you. - Jeff Dever
