Rainouts

In general, a game is always "on" unless cancelled by ACTUAL adverse weather or adverse field conditions. Please do not postpone games based only on weather forecasts but instead on actual RAIN.  Also, postponements should be rescheduled as soon as practical - in most cases for the next calendar Friday or weekend date available.

If on the day of a game, in the hours prior to a game it is felt that field conditions or ongoing weather patterns (an "all day rain that is forecast to continue well through game time in HEAVY rain form) necessitate a postponement, the home team coach should contact the other team coach and discuss. If postponed, a reschedule date must be agreed upon at the time you have this discussion with the other coach. The coach must then initiate postponement procedures, including cancelling umpires. Convenors may also take on this role.

DO NOT postpone unless necessary. Example: on Thurs May 22, 2014, torrential downpour at 4:30pm, lighter rain till 5:30 then downpour till 5:50. Sun came out. Channing ball diamond looked unplayable in assessment at 5:45 but chose to wait to make decision at 6:05. Used some rakes to clear out puddles at home plate, game was underway by 6:15 and got a full 6 inning Minor A game in.

The procedures of how to interact with the online system are different depending on which division you are in.  After performing these steps, all members involved should be notified of the game postponement.

League Toolbox (KLLBA Spring House programs Blastball through Junior)

1. Go to Kanata League website https://www.kllba.ca
2. Login and enter the Admin Site (upper right hand corner)
3. Select the Schedule and Game Manager
4. Find your game in the list, click on Postpone/Cancel Game
5. In the box that pops up, ensure the settings are to Rainout and Send Emails

SMaLL (Interlock games in Spring and Summer, Senior, Big League)

1. Go to http://ontd2ll.fuzzybeagle.com
2. Enter the Spring 2014 schedule at the top
3. Find your division and game in the available list
4. Click on the paper and pencil icon
5. Ensure Postponed is checked and type in a game note
6. Enter your username/password and click Change Game State

In other cases this will be a game time decision, made by the umpires at the game. Again, the coaches must then react to that postponement, and initiate postponement procedures.

Games in Rookie, TeeBall, and BlastBall will not be rescheduled.  Other games will have to co-ordinate with the appropriate convenor for when the game will be re-played.
