1. OFFICIAL RULES
The playing rules shall be "Baseball Canada's Official Rules of Baseball" and the "O.B.A. Playing Rules & Regulations" governing open, invitational, and international tournaments unless superceded by the following rules,
2. TEAM SIGN-IN
Teams should be at the park one hour prior to their first game to sign-in. An approved team roster must be available to the tournament convener if requested. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OBA TEAMS MUST HAVE THEIR TEAM OBA ASSIGNED NUMBER FOR SIGN IN.
3. PRE-GAME WARM-UP
No infield warm-up will be allowed. Pre-game warm-ups may take place on the outfield grass if it is available or at another safe and appropriate location.
4, GAME LENGTH AND CURFEW
Games will be 7 innings.
No new inning shall start, from the official start time, after:
The official start time is to be determined by the home plate umpire and reported to the official scorekeeper. Ties are allowed.
The "Final" game of the tournament is not subject to the time curfew. A complete game is to be played to determine a tournament champion except where the mercy rule applies.
5. OFFICIAL GAME AND DELAY DUE TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
A game will be considered official after 5 innings or when it has reached its curfew time.
In the event of a delay due to rain, lightning, darkness, etc...., prior to the game becoming official, the game will be suspended unless "Time Restraints" are imposed (section 6). The game will be resumed from the point of the suspension. The defensive team must assume the same positions being played at the point of suspension except the defensive team may make a pitching change noting that all rules governing pitchers still apply.
6. TIME RESTRAINTS
The tournament convener reserves the right to make any changes necessary to ensure the completion of the tournament in the allotted time.
7. MERCY RULE
The following mercy rules shall apply:
If the home team is ahead or takes the lead by the aforementioned mercy rules, the game will end at that point and the home team shall not complete their turn at bat.
8. HOME TEAM AND OFFICIAL SCOREKEEPER
The home team will be decided by coin toss during round robin play. The team travelling the farthest will make the call. For elimination round play, the team finishing higher in their group during round robin play will be the home team. If both teams finished the round robin in the same position in their respective groups, a coin toss will determine home team. Unless supplied by the tournament committee, the home team will supply the official scorekeeper.
9. CONDUCT
All participants in the tournament are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Coaches, players, and parents are reminded that all umpires have the authority to call a game in forfeiture if orderly completion is unlikely.
Verbal or physical abuse of an umpire will not be tolerated.
Any verbal abuse of an umpire will result in ejection from the game.
Any deliberate physical contact between a player or coach and an umpire will result in suspension from the remainder of the tournament.
10 EJECTIONS
Should a player or coach be ejected from a game, that individual must leave the playing field and dugout and no longer be involved with the game.
Anyone ejected from a game is automatically suspended from participating in the next scheduled game.
The tournament convener will review all ejections for possible additional suspensions.
11. CONTACT RULE
Any contact between runners and fielders must be minimized - O.B.A. "Contact Rule" will apply.
12. PROTESTS
Protests are to be handled on the field in an effort to keep the tournament on time. Protests should immediately be brought to the attention of the home plate umpire who will summon a convener to make a ruling. A protest fee of $40 must be remitted to the convener on site before a protest will be heard. The fee will be returned if the protest is upheld. Game delays due to protest do not invalidate the curfew rule (the clock keeps ticking). Rulings of the tournament conveners are final.
JUDGEMENT CALLS BY UMPIRES ARE NOT GROUNDS FOR PROTEST.
13. FORFEITED GAMES
The score of a game forfeited for any reason will be 7 to 0.
14. TIE BREAKERS
As per OBA P7.3 t) and u) tie breakers used to determine round robin standings are as follows:
When there are 3 or more teams tied, the tiebreakers will commence at step 2. After the winner of that tie breaker is determined, the tiebreakers will continue, if necessary, at step 2 as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only 2 teams remain, the tiebreaker will start at step 1.

The visiting team will supply an official pitch counter and forms will be supplied. IT IS IMPERATIVE that at the end of each inning/game that the visiting team and home team initial the number of pitches thrown by each pitcher. Please note that these pitching sheets will be available prior to the commencement of each game for each team to view. Should a discrepancy arise concerning Pitch Count, the tournament convener is to be notified immediately. Complaints after a game will not be heard. Once a game is completed and the game sheets handed in with the pitch count sheets, the pitch count will not be amended. The visiting team is responsible for handing in these sheets after each game. Pitchers will be charged according to the pitch count sheet.
