On the weekend of Friday August 5 through Sunday August 7, 53 Rookie, Minor, Major and Junior teams from across Ontario, Quebec and New York will gather for the largest annual charity youth baseball tournament in Canada. All proceeds raised go to benefit the Cardiology Department at CHEO.
Minor (9-10) games will take place at Deevy Pines/Bridlewood Core Park beginning at 12pm Friday, and 7:45am Saturday. Major (11-12) games take place over the same timeframe at the Tokessy/Channing/WBW diamonds off of Maple Grove Road on the North side of the KRC, while Junior (13-14) games take place at Upper and Lower Kinsman diamonds on the south side of the Kanata Recreation Complex. Semi-Final and Final games take place at the same locations beginning at 9am Sunday. For the fourth consecutive year we are pleased to offer a Rookie (7-8) tournament, to be held at Michener Fields (off of Penfield Drive adjacent to Roland Michener School) starting at 8am Saturday morning and continuing at 11:30am for the remainder of the day. A total of almost 100 games will be completed over the course of the weekend.
Opening ceremonies will be held at 10am Saturday at Tokessy Field, followed by a hitting contest at 10:30. Various raffle and silent/blind auction prizes have been offered by many community organizations, and bids can be entered at the Tokessy concessions area.
A special Note; access to the Tokessy/Channing/WBW site will be restricted as construction is going on in the area. Part of Maple Grove is expected to be closed on the tournament weekend. Detours are in place, you will need to access the Tokessy/Channing/WBW complex via Palladium and Silver Seven, near the Sensplex. Access to the parking area is promised to be maintained, but will be congested, especially during opening ceremonies.
Over the years the tournament has raised over $300,000 for CHEO, and with your help we can continue that tradition. Spectators are welcome, come on out and see some excellent youth baseball in the spirit of Little League. Barbecues and canteens will be set up at all 3 locations.
For participants and umpires, schedules should be available on the Tokessy website http://www.tokessytournament.com as well as this website by Tuesday August 2 morning. For more information please check out the tournament website. Teams need to be prepared to start play as early as 12pm Friday.
Any updates to the schedule will also be published here, with details of the update. Umpire schedule to follow as well.
