KLLBA operates under a charter granted by Little League International. We are part of District 2 of Little League Ontario (which has 8 districts), which is one of six Divisional Little League organizations within Little League Canada.
Ontario District 2 (Ottawa West) is made up of 4 Leagues:
- Carlingwood/Frank Ryan;
- East Nepean;
- Pinecrest;
- Kanata.
Bordering districts include District 6 (Ottawa East) made up of leagues in Orleans, South Ottawa, Glebe/Gloucester, Carleton/Russell, and Prescott/Russell, and District 8 Ottawa Valley.
Each league is responsible for providing Little League programs within their geographic boundaries. In District 2 and Kanata these generally consist of Spring “House League” programs, and Summer “Competitive” programs. House League programs generally form multiple teams that play within only their own league, while Competitive programs play “interconnect” schedules against similar teams from other local leagues. In Ottawa, due to the proximity of Districts 2 and 6, Summer programs are often interlocked across both Districts. In older age groups, namely Junior, Senior and Big League, Spring seasons are often also interlocked.
