Girls Baseball Program

Girls Baseball Program

New for 2018, our intention is to offer an additional Girls registration option. Girls can still play on co-ed teams, but will be presented with a Girls option on registration. Girls teams would play games in the spring season (May-June) and would have the option to continue on by staying together as an all-girls team or individually on co-ed teams during the summer season (July-August).

Who do we play?

There are several options on who to play, exactly what we do will depend on registration and input over the coming months as we solidify the program. Some options are:

  • Form an Ottawa Girls baseball league. Ideally, we get to the point where we have a full league of girls teams at various levels. We hope that some other associations will come on board and put together girls teams. This is the end goal but we may not have this the first year.
  • Another choice would be to have the girls play vs co-ed or boys teams in our region. This would involve more local games close to home.
  • A third option would be to play in the already established Gatineau Girls league. Baseball Outaouais has a fully developed all girls baseball league up to and including Bantam (16U) and would allow us to enter girls teams.

Toronto Girls Baseball Tournament

We are invited to this girls baseball tournament which has divisions for Rookie, Mosquito, Peewee and Bantam Girls. Tournament runs June 2-3 on fields in Toronto. We hope all our girls teams will attend.

Girls Baseball Clinics

On October 28th, 2017 Kanata hosted its very first Girls Baseball Clinic.  This event was extremely popular, with 50 girls in attendance.  Given the success of this event, we plan to hold more of these events in the coming season and ensure girls are included in Winter programs.
